There is fresh movement around Google teases gold Pixel 11 with mysterious Pixel Glow in action, and the story is worth a closer look.
We pulled together what is known so far and what it could mean for the people following it.
Google is set to show the phone at Made by Google on Aug. 12, but it gave away a bit of what to expect on the Google Store.
On a page to reserve the date on the calendar, a video shows the edges of two gleaming gold Pixel 11’s. They sit below a button to "sign up and save" and the announcement that pre-order is on Aug. 12.
Clicking to add the event to your calendar reveals the note: "Tune in to Made By Google on August 12 at 6pm ET / 3pm PT to learn the latest news and updates, from Gemini Intelligence to the new lineup of Google Pixel devices."
If you choose to sign up and save, you’ll get “an exclusive offer on August 12 from the Google Store when you sign up for emails.”
The promo offer comes with a few caveats: it’s available only to those who sign up with a Google Account for marketing emails from store.google.com between July 15 at 10:00am PT and Aug. 7 at 11:59pm PT , the code expires on Aug. 27 at 11:59 pm PT, and you must be a US resident 18 years or older, with US shipping address.
Call it unoriginal all you want, Google borrowed the right thing
In the short video clip of the Pixel 11’s, it’s apparent that Google is reclaiming a highly reflective gold colorway that has fallen out of favor in recent years.
And, far more intriguing, is the camera bar that displays something new in the flashlight spot, presumably the Pixel Glow feature, which cycles through a rainbow of colors.
While nothing has been revealed yet about Pixel Glow, it is rumored to be a notification feature that will alert users to notifications and charging status, as well as change with Gemini assistant interactions.
This might be the most we officially see of the Pixel 11 before August, and it does a good job of keeping excitement going without giving too much away.
